Welcome to the Modeliste Creative Online School of Pattern Design

My name is Nicola Chadwick I would love for you to join me to learn to become a Pattern Designer.

If you have ever dreamed about creating your own patterns for your own designs the way to realise that dream is to learn how to make a professional pattern from your own 'Fashion Design' sketch!

After several years of teaching students in France at Modeliste Creative I have created a range of online courses.

My wish is to make my courses accessible to many. With this in mind I keep my course prices as low as possible for all. I do not believe in sales or coupons so you can be sure the price you see is the lowest it can be.

What Experience Do I Have?

I have worked as a senior fashion lecturer at Manchester's world leading Hollings Faculty, teaching pattern technology and CAD, for over 14 years. Prior to that I taught pattern cutting part time for 15 years in a technical college.

Before I taught full time I worked as a freelance pattern cutter and grader all over the world with many of the largest clothing companies.

I have developed clothing courses for universities and trained industry professionals for many years.

I have lectured in universities all over the world including China, Germany and France.

I never stop learning, my work is my passion and I would love to share my knowledge with you!

Here are some of my formal qualifications

• Clothing Technology Degree from the London College of Fashion.
• Fully qualified teacher - with a C&G teacher training certificate.
• MSc - Master of Science Degree (with distinction) in Clothing (Advanced Manufacture).
• 30 plus years industry experience as a freelance pattern cutter and grader.
• 30 plus years experience as a pattern cutting, design and CAD lecturer from evening classes to teaching at masters level and supervision of PhD students.
• Industry consultant for small fashion start-ups.
• I am the pattern cutter and grader behind the popular Design Cut & Wear and Modeliste Creative sets of basic blocks (slopers) used all over the world by small fashion business, adventurous dress makers and fashion academies!

A note about units of measurement - I work in centimetres how ever I give inch equivalents in all lecture notes and videos too!
